cagayan de oro Gamma Kappa Phi ALUMNI COUNCIL

Gamma Kappa Phi Fraternity & Sorority

This is the website of the Cagayan de Oro Council of the Gamma Kappa Phi Fraternity & Sorority, a collaboration with Gamma Kappa Phi Society of Alumni an advocate of the ‘One Gamma Kappa Phi’ principle to embody brotherhood in the mainstream of divergence that are ambiguous on certain issues and divisions caused by different mindsets and personal values, which are seemingly irreconcilable among members and proponents of the advocacy. Established as a school chapter on May 15, 1974, at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro. Designated as the Cagayan de Oro Council, it is the birthplace of legendary pioneers who gave rise to the so-called Epsilon, a Greek letter adopted by the new group factions that evolved from the Cagayan de Oro Forerunners of Gamma Kappa Phi. Furthermore, the Cagayan de Oro Council and the Gamma Kappa Phi Society of Alumni are affiliates of Gamma Kappa Phi Fraternity and Sorority. It is recognized as a sovereign and independent organization, distinct from other factions using the name Gamma Kappa Phi. Contrast’s distinction is further emphasized by its addition of the Greek letter ‘Sigma’ and the phrase ‘Founding Year 1962’ to its name, which contradicts its representation. Whereas the ΓΚΦ Cagayan de Oro Council and ΓΚΦ Society of Alumni exclusively use the 3 Greek letters appellation, namely ‘Gamma Kappa Phi’, in conformity with its original founding name, which resembles that of the Gamma Kappa Phi Fraternity and Sorority. Nevertheless, they are welcome as sister organizations, recognizing their shared origin in ‘Gamma Kappa Phi’ for unity & reconciliation, regardless of their preferences. On the other hand, it has a distinctive design, graphics & geometry for its official emblem, seal, or logo, without the inappropriate display of ‘Kappans’. Because the word Kappan is a moniker for addressing a member of any fraternity or organization that bears the Greek letter ‘Kappa’, similar to Gamma Kappa Phi. Therefore, this is an obvious label to include in an official emblem, similar to the controversial use of the trademark by the so-called International Council, another young faction known as the bearers of the ‘1962’ identity. In other words, endorsing a trademark logo registration for a non-profit organization that designates Gamma Kappa Phi is a blatant contradiction, since the objective of ‘brotherhood’ has been compromised by its association with a trademark identity. Otherwise, it serves its purpose as a trade or sales organization rather than its objective as a non-profit organization. On the grounds, the Gamma Kappa Phi Society of Alumni denounces this spurious preference by the opposing faction to discredit the designation of the Fraternity and Sorority’s name.
